She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she received specialized training in Child and Adolescent Therapy, Play Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, and Group Therapy.
Sarah is passionate about working with children and adolescents, helping them navigate a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges, including:
Anxiety & Stress Management
Depression & Emotional Regulation
Behavioral Challenges
Coping with Chronic Illness
Grief & Loss
Daily Life Stressors & Life Transitions
With a warm, empathetic, and engaging approach, Sarah creates a safe, inclusive, and supportive environmentwhere clients of all ages, developmental stages, and abilities can feel comfortable expressing themselves. She believes that therapy should be a place where kids and teens feel truly seen and heard, empowering them to build confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being.
Registered Play Therapist Training & Clinical Experience
Sarah has extensive experience working with both neurodivergent and neurotypical children and adolescents, having served in community healthcare settings and as a school-based therapist. These roles have strengthened her ability to connect with young clients on their level, helping them process emotions, develop coping skills, and work toward meaningful growth.
She incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), play therapy techniques, and expressive arts-based interventions to engage children in a way that feels natural and effective. Sarah understands that for young clients, play is more than just an activity—it’s a powerful tool for communication, healing, and self-expression.
Sarah is also working toward her Registered Play Therapist (RPT) certification and meets regularly with Natalie Shepherd, LPC-S, RPT-S for specialized supervision in this area. Her dedication to ongoing training allows her to offer developmentally appropriate, evidence-based interventions that support children in processing their emotions in a way that aligns with their unique needs.
Beyond the Therapy Room
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys baking, watching football, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and daughter.
